Kystvillaen

Kystvillaen is situated on the edge of the coastal landscape in Greve and extends across approximately 330 square metres. The house is designed with a focus on calm, rhythm and light, where natural materials and fluid transitions create a harmonious flow throughout the spaces. Large floor-to-ceiling windows open the house towards the coast, while terraces extend from the living areas, dissolving the boundary between indoors and outdoors. The villa is organised around a three-part zoning concept — private, shared and creative spaces — each with its own atmosphere and function. Movement through the house follows a natural transition from open and social spaces to more intimate and secluded areas. The central volume accommodates t... More

Villa lava

Villa Lava is a private residence located in Santa Tecla, in the province of Acireale, on the eastern coast of Sicily. The project is a unique architectural blend - the union of two houses in one big Villa. On one side is an old fisherman's house dating from around 1900, which has been completely restored by Nábito Architects, maintaining its essential character and carefully uncovering and preserving the original lava stone vaults. On the other side, the old restored house is connected to a modern extension that opens to the sea, designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape of coastal lava stone, local vegetation and the ever-present Mediterranean horizon bringing the sea inside the complex. Private Residence in Goto Islands

The plan is to renovate an old private house on Fukue Island in the Goto Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture, into a guest house and private residence. The Abunze Coast stretches out in front of the house, and we wanted to be able to see this scenery from the rooms. So, we installed windows facing the sea in each room, and the living room window is a long, dynamic window that responds to the horizon. Great Barrier island

The initiative arises from the need to connect on the basis of a bridge or a series of them the great barrier island with the neighboring islands of the Hauraki Gulf. This proposal on the contrary seeks primarily to create the necessary means to contribute to the regeneration of an aquatic ecosystem belonging to the marine park of the Hauraki Gulf which has been significantly affected over time due to pollution and overfishing altering in this way the existing trophic and environmental system. That is why the interrelation between the gulf, its islands and basins is necessary to maintain the vital support of the environment which is a matter of national importance, besides that the marine park of the Hauraki Gulf is clearly different from ot... The Crows Nest

AR Design Studio was approached by the clients who were looking to extend their holiday home on a cliff top on the South Coast. During the planning process, and following the unprecedented rainfall during the winter of 2014, there was subsidence close to the house and the decision was made to replace it entirely.   AR Design Studio was then tasked with designing a completely new home; the idea of movement and fracturing formed the backbone of the concept. Working closely with engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, an imaginative structural solution was proposed to prevent future failure. A concrete slab was built into the ground, a series of strategically placed dwarf walls were then built on top of it. A floating structural frame wa... More
