Nokha Village Community Centre by Sanjay Puri Architects is an architectural oasis in the desert

Mumbai-based Sanjay Puri Architects has completed the Nokha Village Community Centre, an architectural oasis set in the desert region of Nokha in Rajasthan, India. The building’s sweeping curvilinear volume spirals upwards from its north-eastern corner — looping around the site, it rises gradually to a height of nine meters (30 feet), arriving at a north-facing viewing platform. USAY Youth Centre

Located in Calgary’s Forest Lawn neighbourhood, the traditional territory of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Iyarhe Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina Nations as well as the Metis Nation of Region 3, the USAY Youth Centre was co-designed and co-authored between Lemay and the Urban Society for Aboriginal Youth (USAY).  Designed as a much-needed place of belonging and personal development for the thousands of Indigenous youth USAY supports between the ages of 12 and 29, this 5,000 square foot building with an adjoining 6,400 square foot outdoor lot acts as a hub of accessibility, safety, cultural relevance, education, and skill-building. It is a pilot project Brusnika is running to verify the need for a district centre in the 32-house estate. Hengqin Urban Village Community Center

In the heart of the Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, China, sits an urban village. Two man-made lakes mark the entrance to the village and a community center in between the two water bodies will connect the residents, the environment and the happenings.  Inspired by the water flow, the brick-and-timber building will house major public spaces on the ground floor, including an art gallery, a community clinic and event spaces. London Road Fire Station

Under these proposals, the Grade II* listed London Road Fire Station will be transformed into a landmark mixed use development for the city. Built in 1906, it stands as one of the Manchester’s finest historic buildings, but has been left in a state of disrepair. Our refurbishment will restore it back to its former glory to provide a hotel, bars, restaurants, community uses and a museum.
