The term "Texas BBQ" alone evokes images of families gathering in backyards, grilling meat over charcoal fires, scenes commonly seen in TV shows and films. Architecture This proposal for the elaboration of the Cascais School project aims to answer the programmatic and functional specifications expressed in the Competition Programme taking into account the territory where it is located and its conditioning factors. We intend the future school to be a contribution to the city of Cascais, through its remarkable image and by offering new public spaces of large and small scale for the enjoyment of the community. Situated on an enviable prominent suburban corner site within walking distance to Sumner beach clients were keen to rebuild on their existing site. The decision was made to remove their existing family dwelling which would have required considerable remediation to convert into a healthy home to accommodate the new house. The site runs EW and the house follows this orientation facing north enjoying all day sun. Roof overhangs and sliding screens provide flexible sun control. Hill views to the east are captured by the upper rooms and from the western wing. Open spaces making the most of the height were the guidelines that marked the starting point of this project. Extent, with a timeless and contemporary ambiance, floods this 276 sq. m apartment done by ARCO Arquitectura Contemporánea´s team, with all the needs of a young family in mind.    Entering the apartment can be observed a common social area formed by the dining and living rooms that enjoy privileged views towards the city. The L.A.R. Residence is located in the area of Taguatinga, a satellite city that surrounds Brasília, the Capital of Brazil. Taguatinga is one of the oldest cities in the "Planalto Central" (which means Central Plateau, how Brasília is also known).
