Park + Ride by HUB is a paradigm for sustainable mobility
Located in the city of Antwerp in Belgium, Park + Ride designed by HUB is a large-scale public parking infrastructure that aims to provide a sustainable model for mobility as well as public access to the Antwerp region.

The Park + Ride building acts as a mediator and a point of connection between the various forms of transit through varying transitions at different scales. Being the site of the physical switchover between the individual and public transit nodes, the system encourages the use of public utilities.

Limited budgets and resources of an island location, coupled with strict design criteria, drove the design process and product choices. These included "deconstruction" of the '70’s-era house while retaining the original foot print, SIP construction, automated LED lighting controls with a centralized driver panel (100% LED), remote energy monitoring, HRV & heat pump technologies, rainwater harvesting (RWH) for domestic use, and incorporating reclaimed wood and metal elements. TVK – Pierre Alain Trévelo and Antoine Viger-Kohler – hand over the redevelopment of the Place de la République, inaugurated by the mayor of Paris on June 16th 2013.
Due to its exceptional size (120 m by nearly 300 m), its symbolic dimension as a representative public statement and its location in the city, the Place de la République occupies a special place in the international hub that is Paris.
The redevelopment of the Place de la République is based on the concept of an open space with multiple urban uses. The elimination of the traffic circle frees the site from the dominating constraint of motor vehicle traffic.
