The study proposes the design of the New Municipal Market of Ioannina as a new landscape building that will function, together with the surrounding urban space, as a zone of urban green and connections. The concept of the geological palimpsest guides the design concept for a new building as a constructed landscape, thus bridging the demanding geomorphology of the area. The proposed intervention, having a sense of place, is fully assimilated into the surrounding urban landscape. Caption   Our proposed daycare facility defines a delicate balance between openness and protection through the exterior façades which are treated in deployable perforated metal mesh panels, forming a “second skin” for the building. This architectural gesture veils the building in a soft layer of semi-transparency and operates as a protective filter, providing shade and privacy, while preserving a strong sense of openness to the surrounding neighborhood. This project is conceived as a seamless dialogue between landscape and architecture. Perched on a steep hillside overlooking the sea, this residence is conceived as a tectonic reading of the landscape. The design roots itself in the terrain with stone walls that echo traditional retaining structures, while concrete slabs and cantilevered volumes project outward, framing uninterrupted views of the horizon. The study concerns the design of a pocket park with a children’s playground in an empty lot on the main pedestrian street in the mountainous city of Karpenisi. The lot is located at a key urban point which has a direct functional and visual connection with the city’s central square and main church. The entrance to the small park happens through a wide staircase, which creates a smooth transition from the pedestrian street and at the same time a seating area with a view to the park and the playground. “Cradle” was designed by architects Constantine Bouras and Daphne Lada as an entry to the International Design Competition ARXELLENCE by Alumil and the Hellenic Institute of Architecture. This is the study of a building located in Dionysos, Attica and consisting of a Daycare Nursery on the ground floor and a Community Center Multipurpose Hall on the first floor. At the core of the historic and commercial center of Athens, in a modern building of the 60s, Constantine Bouras Studio designed the atelier of an artist, creating a bright open plan space which allows for unobstructed spatial and programmatic flows.
