Rafina Port Commercial Zone Redesign

Constantine Bouras Studio   With the urgent need for the removal of the existing unauthorized structures, the design scheme proposes the creation of a unified structure which will consist of units with common typological characteristics, forming a cohesive, aesthetically and functionally, zone of semi-outdoor and outdoor spaces along the waterfront pier at the entrance of the port of Rafina. Constantine Bouras Studio The new structure will be deployed parallel to the existing building complex, allowing the latter to be perceived again as a single elongated entity. This new white lightweight metal construction with nautical references, will function as a “transparent” portico in front of the exist... En savoir plus

Nursery in Ano Patisia

The nursery is located in the Ano Patisia area of the City of Athens. The architectural study foresees a two-story building with a basement and a roof. The ground floor covers the needs of infants, while the first floor accommodates the toddlers.Due to the rather unfavorable geometry of the plot on top of the specific building requirements of a nursery, the design of the building was made with the clear aim of creating open and bright spaces that will serve the functionality of the nursery at the same time. For this reason, the central element of the design is the atrium, which plays multiple roles: it creates a clear programmatic separation of the main areas of the building [administrative spaces and children's spaces], while allowing at t... Cretan Summer Home

EAGLE'S NEST

The concept for this house is simple. The horizontal concrete slab is in conversation with the ground relief and disappears into it. It submerges into the ground and provides space for functions beneth it. Technology and nature, contradiction and coexistence. Τhe influence of nature covers the slab with natural vegetation, absorbing it, it including it. From above, only a subtle trace is visible. Underneath the slab, in linear arrangement accross the view, are interior and outdoor spaces, with undefined boundaries. The gesture integrates with the water line thus blending with the vast blue on the horizon. En savoir plus

House in Markopoulo

The residence is located in the village of Markopoulo in Eastern Attica (Greece) near the Mesogeia Equestrian Club. The property is accessible by 28is Oktovriou Street. The area had become attractive since the opening of the new Athens International Airport in 2002, not very far away from the plot. The topography of the site was quite slopy, so we had to place the building on its highest spot, to ensure an unhindered view towards the sea (the bay of Pórto Ráfti). The upper floor includes a single space under a wooden ridged roof divided into functional zones: the living area and the dining area (separated by a fireplace) and the kitchen. This single space measures 6,00x14,20m (19,68x46,59ft).The roof construction is visible fr... En savoir plus

Single Family House in Thiva

This house was built for a family of four – a young couple and their two children – at the southeastern outskirts of the town of Thiva, Greece. The corner lot of 4.300m² (46.285ft²) is in a privileged location, since it offers a panoramic view of the nearby woodland and farmland. It is accessible from its western edge, the Sofokleous country road. At the final stage of preliminary design, we developed a single-storey solution, with the basement of the residence only containing secondary functions, such as storage rooms, the heating boiler room, the laundry room and the garage. This solution has aesthetic and functional advantages: we were able to use the whole of the 205m² (2.207ft²) allowed by building reg... En savoir plus
