This is a pattern that, with Theia, Sebastian Herkner was looking to disrupt, turning the frame of this chair into its core aesthetic element.In this, his second design for Freifrau, his concept was to fuse the frame and the seating shell – not just in technical, but in optical terms, too. The Niemeyer II armchair is named after the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer whose architecture was spread likes sculptural poetry in the history of Humankind.
The rounded lines of the armchair are influenced by the remarkable ‘Casa das Canoas’ designed by Niemeyer in 1951. The flat roof offers its flowing forms to the round seat. The backward movement of the curve that frames a large granite boulder is recreated by the location of the seams in a meticulous upholstered work that flows all around the arms of the armchair.

The Royal Motor Yacht Club has a long, and royal, history. The original Motor Yacht Club was founded in 1905, and opened its premises at Point Piper, Sydney, New South Wales in December 1910. By 1927 it was the largest such Club in the world with a membership of 150, when King George V decided to bestow it's ‘Royal’ prefix. In 1934 the official opening of hte RMYC Port Hacking took place. Today it retains that early prestige, though the world, and motor yachts, have changed substantially.
