Mot-L Residence is in the upper part of the still recent urban fabric of the city of Lagos, Portugal. The development occupies three lots, which are interconnected in a housing complex. The central space is a courtyard or square, a privileged outdoor living space which most of the apartments face. Studio Libeskind completes striking affordable senior housing courtyard building in Brooklyn

The renowned international architectural practice Studio Libeskind has completed the Atrium at Sumner, an affordable senior housing complex in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. A uniquely angular facade with geometric windows sets the striking courtyard building apart from its surrounding red brick neighbors. On the inside, a towering central atrium floods the interior with natural light and invites residents to enjoy a year-round garden space. Herzog & de Meuron bases SIP Main Campus on the concept of a courtyard house

International architectural practice Herzog & de Meuron has completed SIP Main Campus, a large-scale innovation complex situated on the north-west edge of Allschwil in Switzerland. The building’s structural concept allows for a variety of applications by reducing interior divisions and vertical supports wherever possible. The flexible nature of the construction combined with the use of durable building materials, extends the structure’s potential lifespan.
