Creating a hub for social and cultural enterprises through an innovative circular design approach. The Kaserne area –a former military barracks complex in central Basel– has undergone several transformations over the years, the most recent one has seen the prominent building become a leading hub of social and cultural enterprises in Switzerland. The main building of the Kaserne was renovated by Focketyn del Rio, opening it up towards the city and the river Rhine. Keppel Centre for Art Education

“A world of wonder for children led by independent discovery, grounded by research and well-being advocacy” WY-TO Singapore was announced as the winner of the Keppel Centre for Art Education in early 2023. The practice based in Singapore and Paris, with expertise in experiential design, was invited to participate in the Research and Design tender. Participating firms were called upon to propose an innovative revamp of the 1,500 sqm art centre guided by their research methodology. Parallect Design layers curves and flowing wooden notes to create this audio bookstore in Suzhou

Set within the East Tai Lake ecological tourism resort in Wujiang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, the audio bookstore designed by Parallect Design blends local characteristics with the existing structure to strengthen the cultural theme design and planning.  Caption The audio bookstore is a physical platform delineating the stories and cultural landscape of the East Tai Himalayan Lake. The project comprises a technology-based exhibition hall and a “Hui” living room, separated by a large sand table. Seoul Yeodamjae establishes harmony between a former temple, trees, concrete and glass

Located in Changsin-dong, Seoul, a former Buddhist temple named Wongaska had become abandoned and disconnected from its local context. Originally constructed in 1983, Emer-sys Architects undertook the transformation of the structure into a cultural centre that includes a library for children as well as a feminist library.   Kyungsub Shin Addressing the disjointed site context was a key challenge for the architects from the outset.
