CUPACLAD DESIGN DIAGONAL

Contemporary architecture is based on the simplification of shapes: a return to simplicity, but with a dynamic touch. And that was the main inspiration for this design: a basic geometry as the rectangle allowing unlimited possibilities!   Taking advantage of the visual impact of the diagonal lines, this design breeds to create endless interesting perspectives aimed to highlight the natural slate façade.   This new CUPACLAD Design proposition seeks creativity and dynamism. The placement of the slates highlights the aesthetic value of the facade and turns our gaze towards the top.   This new CUPACLAD Design concept allows not only to take advantage of the efficiency and sustainability of the CUPACLAD® ventilate... Villa P

From renovations to newly constructed buildings around the world, one of every three natural roofing slate  installations uses the Cupa Pizarras brand. One such project is the beautiful Villa P in Fredericia, Denmark. Designed by N+P Arkitektur, the 2,100 sq.ft. harbor-side residence uses the CUPACLAD® 101 LOGIC cladding system to help create its timeless, Nordic-inspired aesthetic.   Overlooking the picturesque harbor of Fredericia and Lillebaelt not far from the ocean, Villa P's exterior can withstand the harsh conditions of its coastal environment. “Vertical and horizontal wooden strips, slate and zinc are all materials that will patinate over time, reflecting seasons,” N+P Arkitektur describes. Social Housing for mine-workers

This project comes up from a tendering process to build state subsidized housing in Cerredo (Asturias), a mining town located in the very heart of the Cantabrian Mountains where no residential construction had been made for over 25 years. The project has two stages that materialize in two perpendicular buildings forming an L. In the first stage we undertake the biggest building, which faces the road that crosses the town. The volumetric we propose has an angular shape. It is a geometry crystallized from some elemmentary laws that are given by the town-planning regulations. The formal result is something halfway between a petrified object, a mountain’s shape and a disturbing organism floating over the mountainside. This “crystall... More

Private home in Gaillagos, France

This dwelling is located in a unique natural environment in the French Pyrenees (Gaillagos, France). When designing this family home, the main focus of the owners was to reduce their energy consumption without giving up to an elegant traditional slate roof. That is why they decided to get THERMOSLATE® installed: it is a completely invisible solar roof that gets repaid from day one. Only 4 collectors installed on a total surface of 5m2 were enough to cover more than 60% of their hot water needs (250 liters per day). Regarding their energy consumption, this family got to save up to 2,854.2 kWh every year! Besides the energy savings, this solar roofing gets to reduce the environmental impact by avoiding the emission of more than 1,900 kg of... More
