Etopia Centre for Art and Technology
Etopia, Center for Art and Technology (Centro de Arte y Tecnologia) in Zaragoza, Spain, is welcoming and light and at the same time solid and modern. It is an open space where artists, engineers, and the general public can come together. The architecture bureau MCBAD/Colomer Dumont has designed an expressive building merging research, art, economics, communication, culture, and technology.

Until recently in the periphery of Prague there were only fields, an old master plan and big expectations for the future. This changed, at least for the western part, with the plans for the largescale Západní město (City West) complex. This project, masterplanned by AH K architekti, offers a generous vision for an extensive new urban district with offices, housing and shopping. A house as a tree
One of the most remarkable projects by Boris Ignatov, a Bulgarian architect working out of New York and Varna, is his tree-like Conservatory House. This large residential complex façade was made with Reynaers systems CW 50-HI, CW 50-RA and CS 77.
The project was nominated by World Architecture News for House of the Year 2010. This unique house has six geothermal probes that create a closed loop ground heat exchange system, which delivers clean heating and cooling. The glazed roof is reversed, which allows natural light to enter and the collection of rain water for irrigation at the same time. The integrated solar vacuum tubes supply all needed domestic hot water.

Gals Business Centre NOVOSIBIRSK
Just like a caterpillar which has found a place to pupate, on a branch, under a leaf, or in a crack in a wall, this office building in Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city, seems to have squeezed itself in between existing buildings.
Architect Valeriy Philipov has used CW 50-HL for both the flat and curved façades of this remarkable business centre. More

Van acker Sissau Villa

‘I wanted to design a villa in which living, working, and relaxation would flow seamlessly into one another,’ says architect Mark Van Acker. The result is the Van Acker Sissau villa, which tests the boundaries between internal and external spaces with its large open areas and many panes of glass. The design is characterized by the use of the interchange between transparent and opaque materials, and as such balances on the fine line between privacy and open space.

Teatro Municiapl Núria Espert
Sant Andreu de la Barca (es) — Just outside of Barcelona, in the town of Sant Andreu de la Barca, a new theatre has been built, the Teatro Municipal Núria Espert. The complex has given a huge cultural and social impulse to the suburban town, which is mostly populated by people employed in local industry and commuters who work in Barcelona. In addition to a stage for performances, the theatre offers a meeting point for the town’s rich variety of clubs and associations, from the football supporters’ club to the flamenco society (where the many workers from Andalusia keeptheir traditions alive). Extension to the Historisches Museum in Bern
With the ‘Kubus/Titan’ project, the Swiss architecture bureau ‘:mlzd’ has succeeded in solving the long-running space problem at the Historisches Museum Bern and at the same time has made a contribution to urban development.
Designed by the architect André Lambert, a multipartite castle-like building was constructed in 1894, prominently located at the head of the Kirchenfeld Bridge. Originally conceived as the national museum, the design was built in a reduced form as the Historische Museum Bern after Zurich was selected as the location for the Swiss National Museum. Coca-Cola Headquarters Spain
If streamlined and smooth is the contemporary standard for corporate architecture, then the architecture bureau DL+A arquitectos has certainly shaken that idea up and added subtle depth in its design for the Coca-Cola headquarters in Madrid. The building, with its Y-shaped ground plan, emerges as an openwork block, and the combination of the solid darker façade sections with the dynamic green double-glazed wall is instantly eye-catching. Its shining interior is revealed as a veritable geode, but in this case a bottle-green one rather than amethyst.
