Moonshine showcases the green evolution of an architect
Located near Bath in the West of England, Moonshine is was originally constructed in 1786 as a schoolhouse for a large country house. Partly original building and partly contemporary extension, Piers Taylor, principal of Invisible Studio, designed the original extension in 2002 but has returned 18 years later, in 2020 to completely remodel Moonshine, making it more energy-efficient and fit-for-purpose.

Mornington Peninsula House
The Mornington Peninsula house is located in Mornington on a sloping forested site with panoramic views across Port Phillip Bay. This beautiful site also contained challenges such as a single storey covenant and the potential for bushfires.
The large home includes a gym, theatre, meditation room, reading room, sauna and large garage. Rather than designing a single building, Turco and Associates divided the extensive program into two buildings to enhance views, solar access and connection to the outdoors from all rooms. Wedged
WEDGED Typical of much of the housing stock in Melbourne's inner north, the normally generous proportions of houses from the Federation era had been wedged into what felt like a small Victorian terrace. The site has a tight 5m width and the existing house is heavily shaded by a large double storey brick house on its northern boundary. Our client came with ideas of transforming the property into a home that maximised natural light and ventilation, generated its own solar power. In addition, flexible spaces were needed for extended family gatherings, and to accommodate out of town guests. The site, once occupied by another building, is closed to the city center.
From the beginning we decided to have a sustainable approach and realize the new building on the existing trace so as not to waste other land.
The concept of the project is really clear: it’s a two-storey building (8 m high) with a simple rectangular plan.
It has a wooden frame structure.
The pitched roof with no eaves recalls the children archetypal house.
The ground floor consists of three opaque boxes, alternated to glass surfaces.
This system allows a cross relationship between the interior space and the garden.
