HED was brought on to design the second and final building on NTT’s Itasca II campus. The building features 36 MW of IT power in six 6MW data halls and incorporates off-site fabricated modular electrical enclosures in the yard. Its mechanical system utilizes roof-mounted, air-cooled chillers, and the facility is LEED Certified by the USGBC. Following up on the prototype design project, NTT engaged HED to provide full-service architecture and MEP services to design a bold yet competitive facility in Itasca, IL. The new building measures 245,000 SF, including 112,000 SF of raised floor divided into six data halls. HED recently collaborated with vXchnge, a young data center colocation company seeking to establish industry leadership by providing innovative, customized, secure and reliable computer environments.   A central part of our work was developing global branding guidelines to be implemented in all vXchnge facilities. At the time of our collaboration, vXchnge was in the midst of expanding their portfolio by establishing new locations within existing buildings in key cities. The facility that includes the largest data center spaces and supplementary buildings for the Turkish banking sector was designed by Manço Architects who won the invited competition opened by a prominent Turkish financial institution.
