Apan Prototype
This project is one of 84 experimental proposals for “Del Territorio al Habitante”, a program designed by the Center for Research for Sustainable Development (CIDS) to help improve rural housing solutions in Mexico with the goal of responding directly to the given site (and territory). Each proposal was designed by a different architecture firm and was meant to be self-produced, meaning that each firm had to oversee the construction and development of their own proposal with a budget provided by the CIDS. The proposal is part of a Master Plan that includes experimental rural housing prototypes designed by 32 different architectural offices invited to reflect on housing production in rural Mexico. The Master Plan also includes a welcome center designed by MOS Architects. The architectural parti aims to enhance the duality between the Visiting Center and the prototypes central area in a way the proposal ends up completing and strengthening the urban set. The Ayucaa´s 1500 houses and 400 apartments in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, started construction.With 357,680 m² of site area, 51 houses per ha and $235 per m² construction cost.A political change that led to the improvement of social housing in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García allowed us to develop a proposal that breaks with the model of urban sprawl that characterizes Mexican social housing. This project was made for an artist and good friend who came with the intent of building a studio / gallery in the middle of the forest, 45 kilometers from the center of Mexico City and a few minutes from a town called Cruz Blanca, in Cuajimalpa.Monumental and respectful, the visible structure is placed in the thicket of the forest. Its lyrical relation with the environment encourages dialogue with the volume; a grid of columns and beams surrounding it act as a skeleton, but at the same time modulate and order space.Low budget, spaciousness, simplicity, and tranquility were the key concepts that set out clearly the priority assumptions of the project.We obtained a budget of $ 75,000 dollars for the construction of this space with a carving,... This apartment building by Dellekamp Arquitectos is located in Benito Juárez, Mexico City. It was conceived of as a housing development for young, middle-class families. The main premise of the project was to design an economical structure that could also offer above-average materials and spaces.Each apartment is divided into two modules, one containing the living room, dining room, and service core, and the second containing a room with a closet and bathroom. The project was stitched together with options to have one, two or three bedroom apartments.
