Presented for the first time during Dutch Design Week (DDW) from 16 to 24 October 2021 in Eindhoven, The Exploded View Beyond Building by Biobased Creations and RoosRos Architecten is an exhibition house constructed entirely with biobased materials and featuring circular construction methods. Marco Vermeulen designed Biobasecamp as an example of biobased architecture. He replaced conventional building materials such as concrete and steel with renewable material wood. The building is an attempt to show how architecture can combat climate change by opting for modular and removable wooden parts. In Aerospace lightness is of great essence, which has led to the development of lightweight fiber composites. Fiber composites can be extremely strong and lightweight by use of strong fibers accurately placed by robots. Atelier Robotiq is now using this technology to make lightweight fiber structures with mesmerizing fiber patterns. The fibers of the Fiber Pattern Lamps create geometrical patterns, which are mathematically defined using in-house developed software. Let the lights determine the look Lighting is developing fast towards LED’s, but most shapes of lamp fixtures are still based on classic light bulbs. To Reduxdesign, the transition from incandescent bulbs to low energy LED, serves as an inspiration to design a lamp to fit both types of lights. With Bulb TL, you don’t need to buy a new lamp if you decide to turn to LED-lighting. The Bulb TL does not only neatly fit both bulbs and LED’s, it let’s the lights determine the look. Marcel van Heeswijk researched concrete. The building material is often applied for its solidness and industrial look. With the Concrete Sofa, the design studio shows there’s more to the material.
