S House
The parti (overarching principle) of the S House was to divide a long, thin suburban lot into two gardens – native to the east, exotic to the west, to suit the client’s respective tastes – and wrapping the house through them. This move challenged the conventional front and back yard diagram of the residential villa architecture that dot the heritage neighbourhood, but with its compact form and central circulation, the S-House provided a number of lifestyle benefits.

Parallect Design layers curves and flowing wooden notes to create this audio bookstore in Suzhou
Set within the East Tai Lake ecological tourism resort in Wujiang, Suzhou, Jiangsu province, the audio bookstore designed by Parallect Design blends local characteristics with the existing structure to strengthen the cultural theme design and planning.

The audio bookstore is a physical platform delineating the stories and cultural landscape of the East Tai Himalayan Lake. The project comprises a technology-based exhibition hall and a “Hui” living room, separated by a large sand table. The austere feel of technology is balanced by the warm wood grain and the rich environment of cultural stories.
