Collegium UCU

The Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), based in Lviv, Ukraine, is the first Catholic university established in the territory of the former Soviet Union. Its mission is to foster an open, forward-thinking, and democratic educational environment for both students and the broader community. UCU aims to be publicly accessible while also serving as a model for higher education in post-Soviet Ukraine — a private university that remains open to society. The Metworks Building – Access Creative College

The Metworks building in London was first constructed in 2006 and was recently renovated from an old accommodation space into a cutting-edge creative college. The old, outdated building is now home to one of the largest creative colleges for young adults in the United Kingdom. The college is spread across eight campuses throughout the UK, allows students to explore their creative side, and offers courses in eSports, games, media, music, and computing. Banker Wire Contact One collaborated closely with Amron Architectural, Banker Wire’s representative in the UK, and installed our L-62 woven wire mesh panels into frames and powder coated in traffic red to give a bold, bright, and eye-catching aesthetic. This collective effort contr... More

Kingsway College School Senior School

When Kingsway College School (KCS) decided to expand its curriculum to include grades 9-12, Architecture Counsel (ACi) was engaged to create an ambitious, phased master plan that would reflect the school’s unique vision and ambition. The first phase (which accommodates grades 9 and 10) was completed in September 2022 with the second phase now underway. The new senior school creates a new paradigm for high school students, using the City of Toronto as its laboratory and campus. With an emphasis on fostering community and strong civic values through experiential learning, a student-centric approach, and sustainability, the school is the only independent high school in Toronto to occupy an existing high-rise residential tower.  ... Gökçeada High School Campus

Gökçeada High School Campus consists of a high school, a vocational school, a dormitory, a sports center, a conference hall, and a library. The campus is situated on Gökçeada Island in Aegean Sea. PAB Architects won the architectural competition in 2014 and the realized design is in use by 2019. The design of the campus proposes an alternative, innovative and participatory learning environment which puts the student in a central role.  The main aim of the project is to create an 'open campus' by an integrated life between educational-social spaces of the school and the urban environment. Center for Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University

The Duan Family Center for Computing & Data Sciences, designed by KPMB Architects, consolidates multiple academic departments into a high-density vertical campus for Boston University. Rising 19 stories and spanning 345,000 square feet along the banks of the Charles River, the Center is one of the largest operational fossil fuel-free buildings in Boston. It reshapes the skyline, advances sustainability goals, and encourages collaboration among students, faculty, and staff. Waunakee Intermediate School

Together with the Waunakee Community School District (WCSD) and community input, EUA developed a plan to address a growing community and the need for flexibility for future expansion by creating financially responsible solutions supported by public outreach. The design of the new 800-student intermediate school honors Waunakee’s strong agricultural heritage, devoted part of the community and uniqueness within the school district. The interior design supports the educational programming, promoting an active learning atmosphere. As a means of wayfinding and student identity, the school is organized into learning neighborhoods, called “villages,” representing natural elements necessary for growth – earth, wind, sun and water. New Sports + Learning Building

Situated in a central Cambridge conservation area, the building carefully addresses the scale and character of the surrounding urban fabric whilst providing a dynamic new focus for the school. Formed by the overhang of the rooftop sports pitch, an external canopy has been expressed in a deep weave of glulam beams that spread from the activity space out into the courtyard like a tree canopy, supported by organically-shaped tilted columns. A crisply detailed brick plinth wraps around the building, visually supporting a bronze-clad suite of learning spaces. It is this material richness which greatly adds to the impact of the buildingPROJECT DETAILSThe new building sits between, and connects to, two existing school buildings, improving access t... More

School of Management, UCL

Our brief for the School of Management’s move to Canary Wharf was to design a whole university satellite on the 38th floor of One Canada Square, complete with academic, administrative and social spaces. We needed to create a space where business meets academia – breaking down corporate norms to provide a stimulating learning environment.A hub space welcomes students on arrival with two ‘Harvard-style’ lecture theatres located either side; their intimate semi-circular format and tiered seating facilitating discussion. Breakout niches are also integrated into the window bays at the rear of the seating to allow smaller group working. We wanted to encourage interaction at every opportunity, which manifested itself through a deliberate breaking o...
