Rosenbad

Owned by the Swedish State, the Rosenbad is a historic building located in central Stockholm, specifically in the Norrmalm precinct. The building was designed in 1902 by Art Nouveau architect Ferdinand Boberg. This building features ornate sculptural stonework characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. Its name, which translates "rosen bath" in Swedish, reflects the elegance and artistic flair that define this architectural period. An accessibility project integrated into the landscape, on the shores of Lake Como.A rationalist-style villa at the foot of the lake that needs to be restored and enhanced, however, presents a major problem of accessibility: the entrance to the property is at 28m of height higher. The only way to access it is by descending a long, narrow staircase that winds through the sloping rocks.The need to find an easier and safer solution to access the villa becomes the most important element of the project due to the intrinsic landscape importance of the place.After studying various alternatives, the least impactful solution for the landscape turned out to be a vertical lift. Chesapeake

This new house is located in NW Washington DC on a steeply-sloped and forested site. The project is a speculative house for a local developer, so it was designed to be constructed efficiently. The composition is organized as a series of vertical volumes situated within the trees, and stepping down the sloped site. The first floor is tall, so the volumes seem to “float” above the ground. A glassed-in corner dining room is featured from the street, while the living room and kitchen are situated toward the rear of the house, facing the overlook of pool and rear yard. The garage is 2 levels below the house, burrowed into the rear of the site, with its roof serving as a deck for the pool. The rear wall of the house... The Studio was created by revitalising a former Victorian depository to provide bespoke open plan office with an animated street frontage. The industrial character of the building was a strong influence on the design, which sought to retain elements of the robust structure. Northwestern Mutual

Northwestern Mutual, a financial services company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has expanded into a brand new, modern office space – in a building that is nearly a century old. The company worked with Eppstein Uhen Architects, Milwaukee, to completely renovate the interior of Milwaukee’s Van Buren building, built in 1926, and Banker Wire woven wire mesh now clads its central elevator banks. Northwestern Mutual bought the 158,000-square-foot, seven-story Van Buren building in January 2013 and worked with Eppstein Uhen Architects, Milwaukee, to redesign its interior.
