Nogalas Residence

We were invited to help a local family, who had a design by a family member for their new dream home. However, the design needed help in terms of refinement, construction, etc. So we met with the clients and worked through changing and modifying the original idea into a workable new residence. Using the stunning vistas from the property, the house morphed into a hearty space that provided views, light and progression from the formal entryway to the more private master suite in the back. Scott Feltheim Scott Feltheim Scott Feltheim The feel is contemporary, especially with the majority of nearby homes in specific styles. And with the constant presence of the sun in this desert setting, shadows play an integral part. New techn... More

Haskoning Delft

The renovation of the historic Mining Engineering Building (Mijnbouwkunde) at TU Delft, in the Netherlands, represents a significant step in sustainable office transformation. Designed and engineered by Haskoning, the project has turned a 1912 monumental structure into a Paris Proof workplace — an office that meets the stringent energy targets of the Paris Agreement while preserving its architectural heritage. © Lucas van der Wee Caption   Adaptive reuse and design strategy The central design intervention is the creation of two glass-covered atriums — East and West — that form the heart of the building. Slender glass roofs, supported by steel columns, enclose the former open courtyards, improving spa... More

De Kroon: Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Apartments

De Kroon is a unique gas-free apartment complex, designed in close collaboration between 1:1 Architectuur and H2W Architecten. This striking building, located on the outskirts of the Oranjewijk, is the result of bold ideas and a successful partnership between the two locally renowned architectural firms. The creation of De Kroon is based on a deep analysis of user groups and the context of the location. Thanks to the courage of the client A.C.U. Bouw, we were given the freedom to conceive something special. The building is situated along the green veins of the Oranjewijk, and this aspect is integrated into the design with cantilevered balconies, allowing residents to fully enjoy the view and sunlight. 1:1 Architectuur 1:1 Architectu... Ventilated Double Skin screen wall: A curtain wall system made of two glass membranes with external air flowing between them, which creates internal ventilation along the entire length of the building caused by the natural chimney effect. This system is suitable for buildings where the façade is continuous and allows any desired external geometry for the envelope. In the winter, the air intake system closes automatically which contributes to optimal insulation of the building's interior space. Between the two glass membranes there is an automatic shading system that controls the introduction of radiation and light. More

NM14 Residence

The main interest of the project is to respond to a series of themes: the relationship between a steep topography and the new construction, clean energy production, economic maintenance aspects, a zero-energy home strategy and specifics customer’s needs are among the set of intentions that establish a philosophy of growth and enrichment for the specific natural site. Caption The structure is planted in three levels ranging from street level 0 (access), level -1 (all social areas) and level -2 (bedroom and private areas). The central volume of the house is oriented towards the south, acting as a thermal mass (thermostat device) thus, allowing all adjoining areas to be natural heated regulated. Huizache House

The house and studio for a Visual Artist and his fiancee, respond to a series of themes such as the relationship with the physical context, the needs of the client, security and a limited budget. For this project, six options were analyzed at the schematic design level that sought to control the wind that comes from the northeast and that occurs in the first months of the year with greater intensity, the sun and the quality of light that enters the building, as well as its cost, energy, and specific operating expenses.   Through the use of various design performance tools and technologies such as Fluid Dynamics, Energy Consumption Analysis Material Life Cycle Assessment, and Climate Analysis” the existing conditions were reprod... Endura Twist

Renson presents the final version of the decentralised Endura Twist ventilation system as a modular construction system. The sensor-controlled alternating mechanical ventilation system, with heat recovery, which has already been available for some time, was tailored during its development to the requirements of a burgeoning ventilation market and covers a broad range of services with its modular construction. With a heat recovery efficiency of better than 80% at 30 m³/h air output, the system achieves the best efficiency class A+. The integrated bypass technology circumvents the heat exchanger if need be and in this way allows use in summer as an automatic ventilation and extraction system. With a minimum length of only 750 mm, Endura Twist... More
