We were invited to help a local family, who had a design by a family member for their new dream home. However, the design needed help in terms of refinement, construction, etc. So we met with the clients and worked through changing and modifying the original idea into a workable new residence. Using the stunning vistas from the property, the house morphed into a hearty space that provided views, light and progression from the formal entryway to the more private master suite in the back.

The feel is contemporary, especially with the majority of nearby homes in specific styles. And with the constant presence of the sun in this desert setting, shadows play an integral part. New technologies include VAV mechanical systems, PV array, instant hot water, and spray foam insulation. Recent energy use bills indicate a savings of over 60% compared to their existing home, which happens to be half the size.
