Curving Grand Palais Éphémère strives for urban and aesthetic integration with famous Parisian landmarks
Constructed on the Champ-de-Mars in Paris, in front of the Ecole Militaire and on the axis of the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais Éphémère is a temporary 10,000 square meter building designed by Wilmotte & Associés. During the period the Grand Palais is closed for restoration works, this building will house art, fashion and sporting events, including the FIAC, Saut Hermès and Chanel fashion shows. During the 2024 Paris Olympics, this ephemeral construction will host up to 9,000 spectators to the judo and wrestling competitions.

ALLIANZ RIVIERA STADIUM
CONTEXT
In December 2009, the city of Nice launched an international competition for the construction of a new 36,180-seat stadium capable of hosting large international competitions. The stadium would sit at the heart of the Eco Valley in the Plaine du Var, named an ‘Operation of National Interest’ (OIN) in March 2008, and was to be the first flagship project in the new district.
The competition programme – the product of a public-private partnership – included three projects to be built in a seismic zone, each with a different completion date:
