Exhibition pavilion

The project aims to define a building that is simultaneously linked to the characteristics of the site in which it is located, and to a sort of ideal "factory of the future". This process takes place by recovering the memory and the shape of the sheds, which are also present in the adjacent building, but also by creating a translucent, almost immaterial architecture to symbolize contemporary production made up of ever lighter and more sustainable goods. In the context of the exhibition of Xenia 2022, an expo centered around hospitality design, TAKA+PARTNERS designed the pavilions for Vimar Hellas. The main pavilion stands at 97,5 m2, and with the addition of the smaller exhibition stand the project totals at 103,75 m2. The proposal reconsiders the conventional role of the construction-site pavilion, transforming it from a static viewing platform into an active and adaptable environment that engages directly with the evolving process of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center designed by Renzo Piano. Act I : An exhibition pavilion to showcase competition entries to the 2018 International Design Competition, organized by the Association of Siamese Architects (ASA). The pavilion embraces the annual competition theme VEX: Agitated Vernacular, by subjecting wood, the themed material, to abrasive processes of peeling & sanding, charring, or burning.  The vexed wood is then hand-crafted: rough-sawn, stacked, and tied, to form two black & white cubic geometries that host the exhibition materials.
