Concept design for the Expo 2020 Dubai - Algeria Pavilion, which aims to provide a neat, simplified representation of this large and extremely fascinating country. This two-storey building has been designed to illustrate the country communal identity and is punctuated by five iconic towers that express specific features of each of the five geographical areas. Each region is referred to through decorative patterns applied to the monochromatic brick cladding, as well as the colourful ceramic tiles at the main entrances. This project refers to Sabrab Office. Letting natural light flood the entire space was the concept for the development of this space. The space was originally segmented with several work areas and where natural light was none and very dark rooms. The basic idea for the creation was immediately liberated from the whole area, transforming it into an open space. It was intended that almost the whole area of the project was an integral part of a single space leading to the option for segmentation to be made through the placement of glass panels. The Children’s Park, a linear garden with eight attractions on raised platforms, has giant bobbin- shaped elements in wooden lattice sheltering the exhibits and children’s activities from rain and sun. Fragments of domesticated nature where the natural and artificial coexist, the exhibits were designed to privilege the organic language of nature as opposed to a more formal architectural vocabulary. The project, essentially a nature walk with eight exhibits, offers children playful learning experiences as they interact with various aspects of Expo Milan 2015’s core theme, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”. First Prize in the competition for the design and exhibition contents for the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Milan 2015. The project, entitled “Language of Taste”, offers a seemingly simple, smart solution for the complex technical, spatial, functional and thematic of this Expo. A pavilion with a clear and contained geometry, a fusion of the traits that our country exports: the tradition and the innovation. This duality creates a permeable, attractive and flexible space, incorporating a free and open as a patio of oranges, another element of identity of the Spanish culture. The image of power that arises from the breaking of ground to the sprouting of seeds has inspired the design of the China Corporate United Pavilion (CCUP). The life that comes from the green heart, that contains the auditorium space, transforms into the spiral of a DNA chain tracing an upward path, to then take on an elliptical form: the ramp gently accompanies visitors upwards towards the open spaces of the Italian-Chinese garden and the terrace. The pavilion is a temporary construction for these six months. Its simple geometric shape of an outer rectangle – aesthetically lightweight and breathable thanks to the breathable membrane and glass walls – covers the harmonious inner curves that represent the vitality of Chinese enterprises. Pavilion concept for LIthunia in EXPO '15, Milan More
