In 2013, the political commune of Weinfelden arranged an open architectural competition for a new single building to house the fire brigade and the Samaritan emergency services; their resources had up until then been distributed over various locations. Out of the 58 participants, it was the «Grisu» project by kit that was the winner. The jury praised the project as a cultivated industrial building. It stands out through its architectural precision and the impact it has in enhancing the overall urban impression of the route into Weinfelden. Following a European tender procedure, the plan by LIAG and BAM Utiliteitsbouw, district The Hague, for the development of a fire station and ambulance post on the Petroleumhaven in The Hague was judged the best by the municipality of The Hague. Work started on the building phase in September 2008. The development covered approximately 5,175 m2 and will house eight fire engines and 18 ambulances. The response team for this part of The Hague as well as a number of staff services and office functions for the corps in The Hague will be housed in the multifunctional building.
