Deciding to move to London later in life our clients bought a small bijoux flat in a converted townhouse. The rear garden and aspect was South facing and was a perfect accompaniment to the flat, and for their pet dog Brian! The flat was in need of upgrading, not only to make it more attractive but practical too for when family members visited for special occasions. We worked on a small part of the flat, the living quarters. The shape of the footprint was awkward, with a conservatory built out to one side leaving the existing space difficult to use.This was a project where we had to use simple clever solutions, it was not about big ideas but small meaningful interventions... Casa Entrepatios
Rehabilitation of a dwelling located between three interior patios on the first floor of an eight storey house building. The main aim of the intervention is to get as much natural light as possible. So the house presents a diaphanous distribution, increasing the entrance of solar light and the cross ventilation, in addition to enhancing the fluency and flexibility of spaces.Day area is placed in a unitary central space connected to the house entrance, and related with two of the patios that surround the house, providing natural light and ventilation. Strict elegance
We were entrusted with the task to come up with a design for an Austrian couple's apartment in Budapest. The plan and functionality were left almost completely untouched.
The box-like sanitary zone is wedged in the social space forming an entrance hall, a kitchen and a living room around itself. To enhance the connection of these rooms we had the walls of the hall removed and a lighting system installed which starts in the kitchen, runs through the hall and ends in the living room. The uniform wooden floor further strengthens the bond between these areas. Heading down the "corridor" the bedroom can be approached, the door of which was converted from side hung to sliding, combining old and new elements.
