Amphibious House 2.0
Flood resilient climate adaptive House
Baca Architects, the practice who specialise in designing projects in, on, near and under water have secured full planning permission for a new amphibious house. The Misty River House is a pre-existing residence situated in Henley upon Thames. The homeowners engaged Baca Architects to replace the current substandard dwelling with a meticulously designed amphibious house. This initiative aims to enhance the visual appeal of the riverfront while concurrently mitigating flood risk for its residents.
The house is not located within a conservation area but is located within the local Greenbelt.

Grennoch Residence
Despite the damage of Hurricane Harvey, the clients maintained a desire to call this neighborhood their home. They wanted to consider how the design of the house could respond to potential future storms, providing resilience while allowing for an outdoor lifestyle and connection to the landscape. The design mitigates the necessity of raising the house with this desire to connect to outdoor spaces. In response, the design provides for outdoor living spaces at the ground level while also recessing outdoor spaces within the volumes of home.

Turenscape revitalises a disused waterscape into a floating forest park in China
Situated within the Yangtze River flood plains in Nanchang city in central-east China, the Fishtail park is a rejuvenation project of an ill-treated landscape of 126acres into a floating forest that exhibits stormwater regulation, promotes biodiversity, encourages recreational activities, and reconnects locals with nature. Turenscape Design Institute undertook the project to reimagine the waterscape as one of the largest floating parks which not only gives a unique identity to the new district but also acts as a catalyst for urban development.

Qing Studio designs a public bookstore with flood-control spatial elements
Perched on the riverbank of the Yangtze River in Wuhan, the No Art bookstore by Qing Studio occupies a long strip space with an interior depth of 8m placed within a box-type waterproof wall serving as the last line of defence during flooding.

Being a part of the flood control infrastructure of the city, the store is prone to flooding during extreme monsoons. To overcome this, the shop equips a 1:12 slope disabled ramp standard for the inner floor fast outflow after flooding. S Design Farm enfolds the Murakoshi House in a metal-panelled volume devoid of windows
Built on a pentagonal-shaped plot in a bustling neighbourhood of Tokyo, the Murakoshi House, designed by S Design Farm is an unconventional three-storey residence. Surrounded by roads on three sides in a flood-prone area due to a nearby stream, the site possessed several challenges.
