The service building of the sports ground „Chöpfli“ is placed on the field between existing car park and forest and consists of two buildings, shifted to each other. This allows a reaction to the particularities of the situation. On the one hand the access from the car park and the orientation to the playing fields are spatially articulated, on the other hand the level differences can be settled with the rear walls of the buildings. Zagreb got its first professional football store in Point Centre in Vrbani, home to the broadest selection of equipment in Croatia. We strived to convey the “pumped-up” atmosphere and energy of professional football through the sales concept. In step with international trends, a pitch simulator is available in the store so that customers can test the equipment. They are able to measure the speed of the balls using a speed detector which is connected to a screen ranking the customers, showing who was the best. The iconic structure of the stadium is at the core of a larger urban regeneration project concerning Pisa sport village. In addition to the athletic facilities, the project includes urban connections’ enhancement between the city downtown and the stadium area by means of large parking areas, a coach station and a new train station for visiting fans. From the local train station, it will be possible to reach a 6500 square meters shopping village with 58 stores, accessible all year round. A new sports pavilion for a netball club, a football club, and a team handball club. One building for three different sports clubs, each with their own character. The Municipality of Utrecht (the Netherlands) wanted a characteristic building that emanated comradery, but would also be distinct for each club. EGM designed a building that reflects the character of each club: transparent, accessible, and recognizable. Austria Wien is one of Austria’s oldest and most successful football clubs. To keep its license for the Austrian national league the club urgently needed a new training hall for the next generation of players. We had just six months to erect the building – and an extremely tight budget: a real sporting challenge for us!A proud statementWith a height of four metres the square sports hall, which we lowered into the ground, has a dominant flat roof with a roof parapet no less than two metres high that was originally intended to carry advertising for the sponsors.
