The Bird Water Tower is located in the northwest corner of M50 Creative Park in Shanghai, backed by Heatherwick's 1000 Trees Phase II. The water tower has an industrial history of half a century, once the studio of artist and curator Bing Su, and was later abandoned for several years. The renovation of the water tower aims to reconstruct a series of spatial experiences in the ruins that can allow people to shuttle between the old and new time and place, and immerse themselves in contemporary art. This project was a renovation of a three-story mixed-use building. The first floor used to house an old hardware store, while the upper floors were residential. We renovated the first floor and basement into an art gallery, and the upper floors into a single-family house. The site is in a quiet, old neighborhood full of similar buildings, and was in between an old marketplace and a new art district for young artists. A handful of small art galleries were slowly emerging along the street of our site. Flexible mould technology & precision engineered hempcrete bricks forms the structure of this Hempcrete coiled wall.  Four meter high glass windows weave between the forms 12 arches opening out onto a 360 degrees terraced area. A twisting spiral staircase becomes the sculptural centre piece which leads you up onto the roof terrace. The top of the coiled wall forms a natural barrier to the perimeter of this roof terrace without interfering with the view from this space. The “BLUE CUBE” is an administrative multifunction project, an office and a showroom for a publication house located in a fifty-year-old building in 7th district, Bahar St,in Tehran. In the beginning, when this project was presented to our studio, according to the initial situation, the entrance level was equal to the alley level, so the unit height was about two meters which was not proper. The second and third parts were 15 cm lower than the main level so the unit height was increased to 2.15 meters. Pritzker-prize winning architect Jean Nouvel sought inspiration for the concept of Louvre Abu Dhabi in traditional Arabic architectural culture, and designed Louvre Abu Dhabi as a ‘museum city’ in the sea. Its contrasting series of white buildings take inspiration from the medina and low-lying Arab settlements. In total, 55 individual but connected buildings, including 26 galleries, make up this museum city.
