House of Iron Doors
What happens when the wall disappears and architecture becomes the boundary?
Located in the hillside district of Okrokana overlooking Tbilisi, the House of Iron Doors reinterprets the typical residential condition of the area through an architecture of enclosure and controlled openness. The surrounding neighborhood is characterized by individual houses hidden behind high perimeter fences, creating a fragmented streetscape defined more by walls than by architecture. Instead of replicating this condition, the project proposes a different strategy: the house itself becomes the perimeter. The building forms a protective architectural envelope that encloses the site and generates a private interior landscape.

Cenotaph – is a project by kera, a Tbilisi-based architectural practice, executed in 2 phases – 1st as a temporary installation presented at the Tbilisi Architectural Biennial 2024 and 2nd as a permanent structure serving as a belltower for a 10th century church in the village of Soli, Lenjeri community, Svaneti, Georgia.

Morningside’s brief was direct - create a private, resort-like forever home for a professional couple. Two simple forms sit effortlessly atop a concrete foundation on a steep and narrow site. These forms belie an open interior that contains ample amounts of public entertaining and intimate private space, centered around a private pool deck. Structure plays a key role, as the home expresses how it was built, and materials were chosen for durability and tactility.
