A facade with an insulated double-skin consists of two layers. In the majority of instances, these layers are made up of glass, creating a cavity that acts as insulation against temperature fluctuations, improves a building's thermal efficiency, and reduces energy costs. The headquarters of “Mech & Human”, a renowned company in the dentistry sector, unfold on 3 levels, each dedicated to specific functions: production, training and offices. The building features large external and internal glass surfaces, completed by Nicolli following the directions of the designer. Standing out on each floor is a meeting room protruding to the outside, fully made of glass panels. Connected to the hall and featuring a full-height mullion-transom façade system, this cantilevered section features “glass-to-glass” corner joints, for a lighter visual impact. JST Production and Engineering Center a showcase of innovative glass and timber construction
Taking inspiration from the roots of a tree, the JST Production and Engineering Center in Middletown, Pennsylvania represents a deep connection to nature. As the building flows down the site’s topography, the single-level glass and timber design by Arcari + lovino Architects becomes taller and wider to represent growth.
