LMN Architects completes Interactive Learning Pavilion at UC Santa Barbara
Seattle-based LMN Architects has completed the development of an Interactive Learning Pavilion at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). A state-of-the-art educational facility, the pavilion is part of the University’s Pacific shoreline campus.

The new Interactive Learning Pavilion is the first dedicated classroom building to be constructed on the UCSB campus since 1967. Ken Soble Tower EnerPHit
The renovated Ken Soble Tower in Hamilton, Ontario, has officially received its EnerPHit certification, becoming the world’s largest residential building retrofitted to the Passive House standard. Also recognized as the first retrofit of its kind in North America—and Hamilton’s first Passive House tower—the 18-story building features fiberglass frame windows from industry-leading, Canadian manufacturer, Cascadia Windows & Doors.
“The Ken Soble Tower is an incredible project,” says Mike Battistel, president of Cascadia Windows & Doors. “It demonstrates how existing tower buildings can be upgraded to high-performance levels.”

Morphosis completes titanium clad convention center alongside the Yangtze river
Morphosis was inspired by the flowing curves of the Yangtze river that were echoed in the undulating roof. The titanium roof paneling refers to sunlight shimmering on the water surface.

The building program is divided into a horizontal conference center and a vertical hotel tower with 340 rooms overlooking the river. The site’s boundaries shape the building’s wavelike form.

The north side of the tower, facing the city, utilizes a metal brise-soleil system that shades the building during the day and integrated lighting lights up in the evening.
