Hotel La Prison***
The prison of Béziers was built between 1850 and 1857 based on plans drawn by the architect Charles Abric. It was extended in 1880 to accommodate 100 prisoners and more, sometimes 300… It was decommissioned in 2009, when the new prison was delivered. The following year, Roschdy Zem filmed there scenes for the movie “Omar m’a tuer”.

Located at the corner of the acropolis, at the bottom of the Saint-Nazaire Cathedral, the prison is part of the landscape of Béziers. To preserve all the character of this complex heritage, it is little modified, the project reconciling the technique of today with the architecture of the time.

Historic prison transformed into Spain’s progressive El Roser Social Centre
A project collaboration between Josep Ferrando Architecture and Gallego Arquitectura, the El Roser Social Centre is a transformation of the former Reus prison in Tarragona, Spain. Originally constructed in 1929, the building is listed as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest and part of the Inventory of Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
