Across the central station of Amsterdam lies this beautiful monumental building from the 17th century. The building, already functioning as a hotel, was in a bad condition and the interior was very outdated. Studio Bower got the assignment to design the interior and identity of this boutique hotel. “Broggi Apartments” is a small hospitality project located in Milan in an elegant context of the beginning of the last century. Three independent units of different sizes offer the possibility of hosting up to ten guests. Each unit has been set up to have a specific spirit, bold colors define connection spaces, kitchenettes and bathrooms; careful choice of upholstery, fabrics and wallpapers, design of bespoke furniture and ad hoc lamps has allowed full personalization of the spaces. Located in Paris, the interior design concept for this hotel aims to create a magical atmosphere reminiscent of its name. The grand and ample space, with high ceilings and a wide floor plan, awakes an immediate impression of finding ourselves in a very special place. Mouldings in the ceilings frame the rooms, which, combined by a modern twist on the classical columns present throughout the common areas provide the feelings of a quirky, interesting castle. In an untouched natural landscape with steep slopes and rich relief, characterized by two distinct hills, we have been asked to elaborate the concept and to design a 100-bed boutique hotel. We decided to create a complex of suites with privacy, in a relaxing environment, without disturbing the essential beauty and tranquility of the pristine Mediterranean landscape. We came up with the idea of a castle settlement, with low-rise buildings and integration into the environment as best as possible. Our inspiration was the castle of Kos, the island “chora”, the drystones “xerolithia”, the Greek country and the tradition of the healing herbs of Hippocrates.
