The three housing buildings on Chemin du Chêne are organized around a tree-lined courtyard. A real haven of peace contrasting with the industrial context of the south of Renens, it offers a place of sharing and relaxation for the inhabitants with its adjoining common room. The three covered passages animated by the windows of the community laundry-lounges mark the entrances to the main building and allow access to the two similar buildings located in the courtyard. These are organized by distributive corridors, favoring the exchange of inhabitants. This building links a private living space with touristic accommodations. Therefore, the idea rose to keep the traditional shape from the log cabins in south Tyrolean style. The basement floor is dedicated to the touristic residence and the upper floor represents the owner’s apartment. The traditional pitched roof turns into a continuous wood panelling, adapted to the functional needs of the building. This is visible by the staircase that links the upper floor with the garden. Both main fronts of the buildings are very different: while from the part of the village only one floor is visible, the opposite façade shows the entire buildings and opens its view to the panoramic sunsets. This project is integrated into a suburban housing environment. Located in the Rue des Chantereines in the city of Montreuil, the site of the project faces housing blocks typical from the sixties which heights goes from five to ten stories. On the other hand, the inner borders of the parcel are surrounded with houses and their gardens.   COOPIMMO is our client. It is cooperative for affordable housing, that has become one of the first producer of social accommodations with a renting-purchasing system. COOPIMMO is also a pioneer at the national scale on using the « Fair Lease Agreement », a plan that regulates the price of the land for this type of constructions.
