PROA Climbing Centre

Proa Climbing Center is an indoor sports hall specialized in climbing and bouldering. The project takes place at a 500m2 old warehouse to create the infrastructure and necessary amenities for the gym users. It is an activity that naturally gathers around users from different levels/experience to help each other out and discuss new technics or ways to address a given issue. Users come together on the surroundings of the wall, such as the access corridors or even the matresses, therefore, it is fair to say that these areas are to be considered as a social spaces. This is the core aspect of the project: provide the most area possible for interpersonal interaction and boulders in order to create the community feeling. At the entrance, front... More

Platform Pilates PIK

Within the coastal fabric of Pantai Indah Kapuk, Platform Pilates by BHVR (Behavior) is anchored by a singular spatial gesture: a lobby that redefines arrival as a moment of quiet departure. As the project occupies a rented building, the design focuses on interior interventions that establish a distinct spatial identity without altering the primary structure. Informed by the industrial language of New York’s subway stations, the design abstracts infrastructural references into a softer, more controlled interior expression. This is most evident in the continuous vaulted ceiling—an enveloping surface that extends seamlessly into the walls, dissolving the conventional boundary between horizontal and vertical planes. This unified g... More

TCLP

Situated between a residential neighbourhood and the edge of a wooded landscape in Loon-Plage, France, TCLP by ZITA Architectes expands an existing tennis club to accommodate four new padel courts, upgraded changing facilities, and a public plaza that strengthens the club’s role as a community destination. Designed to host regional, national, and international competitions, the project demonstrates how sports infrastructure can support environmental performance through bio-based construction, passive design, and careful resource management. Zita Architectes Rather than treating the expansion as a purely functional addition, the design integrates the new facilities within the existing campus while creating welcoming public spaces... TIG

A centerpiece of the new Clause Bois-Badeau eco-district, the project benefits from an exceptional location facing the sports esplanade—a green public square extending the Jardin de Traverse that structures the neighborhood. A true hinge between the school complex, the rugby field, and the surrounding low-rise residential fabric, the building rests on an elegant mineral base and offers clarity and transparency between the sports esplanade and the future garden. The public parking facility is independent. The sports complex accommodates two halls: a multi-sports hall with a 250-seat grandstand, and a gymnastics hall. A large, cross-shaped through-hall serves and connects the various functions. Air Studio Air Studio Air St... More

Turnhal Zonhoven

Turnkring Olympia in Zonhoven continues to grow — and their accommodation is growing with them. With more than 600 active members, extra space was no longer a wish, but a must. The new sports hall, which is also the highest in Limburg, now offers the necessary height for safe, fully-fledged top-level sports training. Dirk Verwoerd Nothing was left to chance in the façade architecture either. The Mascaret profile was chosen, applied in two types that are playfully intermingled. This subtle variation creates rhythm, texture and depth in the façade. Dirk Verwoerd The finishing touch? A striking high-gloss Intense 60 coating in copper colour — a warm, dynamic shade that makes the façade shine in the... More

Figured Ground

Can a structure embody dual personas - seamlessly integrating into its surroundings while also commanding attention? Can an architectural object be defined by an absence as much as a presence? The Indoor Sports Arena at KLE Technological University grapples with such philosophical inquiries, seeking to reconcile the paradoxes of architecture, landscape, and urban identity.  Andre J Fanthome Andre J Fanthome Andre J Fanthome Sited within one of the last remaining green tracts of a 100-acre university campus, the building occupies a residual space that abuts a major six-lane arterial road. The site thus embodies a duality — on one side, the intensity of the city’s vehicular movement; on the other, the serenity... More
