The Fish Trap is an ancient vessel. In the past, it served as a tool for catching fish. Then, as it was no longer used, it became a symbol that bears lost culture in museums and literature. In this piece, we tried to take this vessel and reproduce it with different dimensions and appearances. The artist FENG focused on the memories of the handicraft and the unique spatial experience that is perceived with the body to create a one-of-a-kind Fish Trap House so the vessel has a chance to hold all kinds of possibilities and imagination. Sea urchin is a common marine animal in Penghu. It looks cute and looks still, but it is active in its own unique way. I want to interpret it by bamboo and rattan and traditional eagle architecture. The sea breeze gives it the soul. The essential. There are many metal pieces installed between the structures. They will sway and rotate due to the wind. In addition to making sounds, they also reflect the green of the grass, the blue of the sky and the golden of the setting sun. Taiwanese artist Cheng Tsung FENG always focuses on traditional handcrafted culture. For the large-scale installation art for Eslite Bookstore 30th Anniversary, his subject is “Chinese Stitched Binding”, which is a kind of book binding method with a long history.   When the idea becomes text, the text falls on the paper, the paper is bundled through the rope, and it finally assembles together as a book. The Gray-Cheeked Fulvetta is an endemic bird species in Taiwan named from its grey head with a white eye ring and long black eye stripe running from the bill down the sides of the neck. In traditional Taiwanese aborigines, Thao, in Sun Moon Lake, it been seen as a spiritual bird. Learn the methods for making a traditional fish trap from an elder of the indigenous Thao tribe  (bamboo trap for river fishing). Then, apply these techniques to the creation of an art installation (jointly constructed by more than 20 people). Pass on and share the beauty of ancient wisdom.
