Doro Apartment
IntroNearly a century ago, Battersea Power station started producing electricity for London’s expanding population. Along the river Thames, boats carried the black coal to feed the enormous steam engines that once pumped dark clouds into the sky from its notorious four chimneys. As actors of the industrial revolution, workers walked daily out the front door of their identical row houses heading to work in the foggy streets.

Heyford Avenue
The scheme provides a new rear single storey extension to a Victorian terraced flat in South London.

Significant water damage and decades of neglect were halted and renovations begun. Works included the addition of a carefully proportioned side extension and occupation of the roof void, to consolidate the house into a modern family home.
Care was taken to preserve valuable architectural details where possible. “Squeeze” profile copies of original cornices were taken to replace damaged and missing cornice sections with exact replicas; the side extension was constructed from reclaimed imperial soft red rubber br... More

Carlton Mansions
This project has entailed the complete refurbishment of a top floor apartment in an Edwardian mansion block, as well as re-roofing of the building and refurbishment of the interior common parts. The apartment was sensitively updated to provide a contemporary kitchen with views across the roof tops. The layout of the apartment respects the original, with additional bathrooms and storage introduced to semi-redundant spaces to provide a well arranged family home. Original details such as cast iron fireplaces and plaster work were restored, while the configuration of spaces was enhanced to provide additional space for a laundry. More
