The architectural journey of the new Consulate began with the need to relocate from an outgrown and waning renovated palace to a modern facility that reflects the States' diplomatic relations while accommodating its expanding functions. Veiled commercial complex
The client’s brief was to design a shopping complex on a very prominent and busy road in a tight urban site in Gandhi Nagar near railway station and Bus stand, Bangalore. The challenge was attracting and offering an experience of sophisticated street shopping to various genre of people, from villager to an urban dweller. As al lot of tier 2, tier 3 and villagers move around in the area for their shopping needs. Satisfying the retail experience was main criteria. The building is designed to impart strong timeless characteristic to the building, with the pattern taking inspiration from deep cultural roots. The Fusion of traditional Indian architecture and contemporary office space cum residential space acts as a barrier for harsh west sun and reduces heat gain but also ensuring no artificial light is required during the day. The clients brief of cultural connect, inspired us to translate a traditional Indian façade pattern to create a responsive built form.
