Billi Seoul

In this modern society we are living in, 'multi' purpose prevails. People have a concept like Multi Persona, and space is even more so. A house becomes a cafe, a bookstore becomes a bar, and a department store becomes a gallery. Billi Seoul can be seen as a club or a lounge bar, but it has a hidden side of it. As a startup in NFT business, the client needed an offline space for activities such as exhibiting and selling NFT products. Mingu Kang In addition, the client hoped that it would not only function as NFT exhibition hall, but also a meeting space and F&B space for drinking, listening and watching; combined together. Billi Seoul is a complex space functioning as an experimental place to embrace the diversity of the platform.... More

voco Seoul Myeongdong, an IHG Hotel

Although it may not be the same as before after the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world, Korea's tourism industry has begun to recover. The number of tourists coming in from abroad is on the rise day by day, but the number of rooms for post-pandemic preparation is insufficient. The reason for this is that, while the development of new hotels has been slowing down due to project financing problems, most of all, many existing hotels that were operating have closed down. Kiwoong Hong Considering the current situation, it is expected that many places will continue to launch new brands through remodeling of existing hotels. This is also the case with Voco Seoul Myeongdong, which grandly opened on Sept. 1st, 2024. This 576 room hotel building... More

Willow 997-1

There is a place where people of Seoul may have heard at least once when they think of Cheongnyangri District, which is Gyeongdong Market. It is Seoul’s largest traditional market since 1960, and it naturally started by the trade of herbal medicines that came from all parts of the country to this particular transportation hub area. As you enter the center of the market, you can find at a glance a very unique red brick building. Mingu Kang The two-story building was originally built in 1955 for the purpose of a cow feed warehouse; five years before the Gyeongdong Market was established. The building was once the center of this market, where merchants came in and out every day, but gradually was abandoned and forgotten over time.... More

voco Seoul Gangnam, an IHG Hotel

The name, ‘Voco’ is originated from the Latin word, ‘to invite’ and ‘call together.’ In thinking of Voco Seoul Gangnam’s own unique ‘invite’, Studio Eccentric has wanted to captivate the vibrant energy and the sophisticated mood in considering the location where the hotel is, at the heart of Gangnam District. As once the song, ‘Gangnam Style’ has struck not only domestically but also internationally worldwide, Gangnam has been definitely a place where culture and entertainment merge together to form a very bold and contemporary experience. There have been many elements heavily mixed in Gangnam, which are uniquely harmonized among radical contrasts derived by the rapid develop... More

The practice of the bright room

612 Kamiaharamachi renovation : A Renovation Project612 Project 612 Kamiaharamachi renovation transforms a private residence into a public space, serving as a café and exhibition venue for the community. The house, once the home of the client's wife's father, is now becoming a coffee roastery for her husband. This connection—passing from one father's house to another—prompted us to ask, What should a father's house be. 캡션 캡션 캡션 캡션 캡션 캡션 We aimed to create a "bright room" that captures subtlety, nuance, and ambiguity. YeongJong Do Onnuri Church

The Yeongjongdo Onnuri Church stands as a unique religious center on a developing island near Seoul, South Korea. Its design integrates the symbolic form of Noah's Ark with the practical concept of upcycling dismantled ship hulls. The building's bow, pointed skyward, serves as a powerful visual reminder of the ark. Kim YongKwan Kim YongKwan Kim YongKwan This project promotes the concepts of scale, ready-made elements, and sustainable reuse. Fragmented sections of the recycled ship's hull become integral parts of the church's architecture. Chungnam International Convention Centre

10 Design, in collaboration with D&B Architecture Design Group, conceived a scheme for The Chungnam International Convention Centre in South Korea. The proposal seeks to establish a masterplan for future exhibition space, which considers its urban context as well as Covid safety measures.  The key design feature of the convention centre proposal involves public tree gardens pulled directly into the lobby, blurring the line between the cultivated interior space of the convention centre and the surrounding landscape. This helps to create a sense of place to provide a more inviting experience for visitors. In response to the new Covid landscape, the proposed gardens consist of air-cleaning plants and a set of nano-coatings. The gard... More
