Positioned on a corner plot, Faye House is shaped by its relationship with the garden and the surrounding streetscape. The generous setbacks allowed the design to place a lush private garden at the centre of the home, with the kitchen, dining and living areas opening directly onto it through full-height sliding glass panels. This creates a continuous connection between interior and exterior, filling the spaces with natural light and greenery. Embodying the architectural attributes of Northern Gulf architecture of privacy and discretion, the White Fortress is enveloped by towering, thick walls that offer protection from the harsh climate and arid surroundings, while enclosing a serene and inviting interior. The dwelling program is laid out on the ground floor, organized around patios within a rectangular walled enclave. Plot 62 is a commercial project located within Shuwaikh industrial Area, in the chamfered corner plot of 21st street with 26th street. This building of simple rectangular shapes, neutral tones and raw materials, fills the existing urban volumetric gap. At the heart of Shell House lies an intimate, lush courtyard and pool which can be viewed from both the home gym and living areas on the ground floor. The upper floors rotate around the garden, which acts as an anchor and pivot point, with pockets of greenery reverberating throughout the house. On the first floor, the master bedroom is oriented to allow views of the courtyard below, while also providing shading for the garden seating. The rotational staggering of the floors in Shell House breaks an otherwise monotonous reading of the house. Reborn House is a seaside property in Bidaa, Kuwait. With the western elevation facing a busy street, we opted to carve a series of openings out of the main mass. Cuts were made at acute angles and the windows were set within a slight tilt. By partially masking the windows, we were able to create shadows that minimize solar heat gain while allowing for diffused light to enter the house. On the other hand, the eastern elevation (facing the sea) benefits from deep set openings and balconies that maximize both views and shade.
