Reweaving a fragmented urban landscape A natural pass between Montmartre and Belleville, once a sacred route and later a royal road, Porte de la Chapelle is one of the oldest gateways to the city of Paris. The project draws upon this foundational identity to transform a stigmatised urban space, fragmented by the juxtaposition of infrastructures designed and shaped by the automobile. More than just a motorway junction, Porte de la Chapelle is also a landscape: by restoring greenery to its rightful place, unifying the ground level, and creating continuous pedestrian and cycle connections between Paris and Saint-Denis, the project enables this strategic link to recover its ability not only to connect, but also to welcome. Giving the city and its inhabitants a space where everyday life meets the event Porto-Vecchio is a town of opposing elements: the upper town and the sea, the salt marshes and the open waters, natural geography and the geometry of the port. It is within this duality that the marina extension project takes shape: first as a gesture of subtraction, excavating the seabed to bury parking underground, then freeing up the surface for an Ortu Marinu, a terraced marine garden that becomes a belvedere, promenade and living space for the residents of Porto-Vecchio all year round.
