Nestled along a meandering seasonal stream, amidst serene tranquility far from the urban clamor, stands a charming bungalow crafted from red laterite stone. The choice of laterite lends the dwelling a distinctive hue that harmonizes with its natural surroundings, blending seamlessly into the earthy landscape. Inside, the bungalow exudes rustic charm and comfort. The walls, built thick with laterite, offer natural insulation, keeping the interior pleasantly cool during the warmest days. In this haven away from bustling city life, the bungalow stands as a testament to harmony with nature and the enduring beauty of traditional craftsmanship. It offers a retreat where one can reconnect with the rhythms of mother nature.

Looking to return to their homeland, this elderly couple based out of the Middle East wanted to build a comfortable retirement home near their ancestral home located in the Ayroor district of Kerala. The 0.5 acre plot, situated at the banks of Chalakudy river at the time was being used to cultivate indigenous vegetables, a practise the couple wished to continue even after their move.
