In June 2021 the new archipelago hotel in Barösund, Inkoo opened its doors. Located one hours drive west of Helsinki this hotel is situated right at the sea and the 12 hotel rooms are all located in separate wooden houses for maximum privacy. The hotel complex is planned to fit the unique environment and to have minimal impact on it. Caption Saas has been involved in the project from the start and worked with the Barö team to create a special atmosphere both in the rooms and in the surrounding areas. The hypogeum of Santa Maria in Stelle, located below the church of Santa Maria Assunta, in the heart of the Valpantena valley just east of Verona, is a very special archaeological site. It started as a Roman aqueduct built to capture the water from the spring that flows in that area. It has undergone many changes over the centuries, from a pagan sanctuary dedicated to water nymphs in the 3rd century AD to an early Christian place of worship and a mediaeval pilgrimage destination. In the 9th century, the hypogeum was consecrated by Pope Urban III and made suitable for liturgical celebrations. Volksbank Krefeld invested 27 million Euros in the building of its new main branch in the city centre of Krefeld between the popular Von-der-Leyen-Platz square and the Dionysius-Kirchplatz church square. In the middle of the building is a hall with a glazed roof along the lines of a “market-place”. With its structure-high opening towards the neighbouring Church of St. Dionysius, the bank building leaves the dominant role to the church building, which together with the square of the same name characterises the city centre.A diagonal walkway through the hall links the church square to the Von-der-Leyen-Platz square. Kirkkonummi is a municipality of 40 000 inhabitants near Helsinki built around its Medieval stone church. Facing the church, JKMM has transformed the old city library. Together with the nearby open market, the church and library create the civic centre of Kirkkonummi. JKMM have therefore emphasised the relationship of the library with the neighbouring church by designing a 50-metre long sheltered terrace overlooking the churchyard. The copper shingle cladding of the new library, called Fyyri, also relates back to its maritime heritage setting. More than 30Km of flexible PVC hosepipes, hand-braided by a family of local artisans, set the tone for Letras, an IT office responsible for the most accessed lyrics site in Brazil. Heidelberg Castle ranks as one of the most important Renaissance buildings north of the Alps. Having been partially destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War, and on many occasions since, the castle was abandoned altogether in the eighteenth century. Today the famous ruin serves as a museum. Receiving more than one million visitors a year, it is one of the country’s top tourist destinations and makes a lasting impression on international tourists visiting Germany. The purpose of the visitor centre is to familiarize guests with the castle before they proceed to the castle proper.
