Light and architecture

A project of its own challenge and uniqueness that prompted us to shape the very definition of a government school. The main focus was to sculpt the school from an existing plan and dimension into a vibrant zone of learning, a place where kids can finally feel that the school is indeed built for them. Light, color, gathering spaces, greenery, scale, and most importantly, the kids have made this government school as what it is. The design breaks free of the typical rigid composition of a school through the use of Jaalis and height variations in the roof slabs which bring in daylight and ventilation, thus making it a breathing structure More

Located in Belltown, a downtown Seattle neighborhood, this studio is dedicated to the display of Lino Tagliapietra’s glass art. Tagliapietra’s work explores the limits of glass—its form, texture, and color. In response to the drama of his work, the space itself becomes an exercise in restraint, a quiet armature and environment in which art becomes the focal point. Most recently serving as home to an auction company, the studio occupies a 1917, one-story, masonry and heavy-timber-framed warehouse building, which presents a quiet presence to its urban setting. The entry is defined by a large wood-and-steel door which incorporates a modest illuminated cut-steel sign announcing the venue. Café Brass is a modern, all-day restaurant embracing Victorian history and European culinary traditions to bring you classic, easy dining in a stylish, laid-back atmosphere. ILANEL was commissioned to design and fabricate all lights at this upmarket venue:- Tree of Light, a multi tiered chandelier, featuring hand made brass branches and mouth blown glass shades. - Heavy Rain Wall Sconces at each side of the fireplace. - Heavy Rain Chandelier above the large meeting table. - The new Kahdu 412D handwoven lampshades in burnt orange at each of the four corners of the bar. - Nipple sconces, featuring heritage Deco glass shades.- Golden pinspot pendants above the main dining area. - Golden 2m linear pendants above th...
