Extraordinary Living

Daylight only sparsely penetrates the north-facing box windows into this Viennese apartment situated in a turn-of-the-century ‘Altbau’ building. SCHÖNSTIL develops a new living concept based on the appealing splendor of the rounded arch entryway. The adjoining library and dining area were immersed in infinite deep-sea blue. And, finally, the previously unused hallway takes on meaning. The adapted interior is complemented by a custom-designed mirrored buffet, several existing pieces, and a selection of new acquisitions. Erlenstraße in Lochau

On the loosely built-up outskirts of the Lake Constance community of Lochau, we have built a modern residential quarter. In close cooperation with the municipality, the design advisory board and the neighbours, we achieved a careful and well thought-out densification. Spread over four buildings, we created 20 light-flooded flats with generous outdoor spaces. Albrecht I. Schnabel Different typologies provide a high-quality home for singles, couples and families. Built in sustainable timber construction, the buildings blend harmoniously into the existing residential area on Lake Constance. All flats are lit on at least two sides, and on the top floors even on three sides. The common access platforms covers an inner courtyard which, like... More

S 661

A real all-rounder: the S 661 moulded plywood chair With our revival of the S 661, we are relaunching Günter Eberle’s award-winning design from the early 1950s in a range of different versions. The chair’s versatility and its efficient use of material make it the perfect all-rounder for dining areas and kitchens, living rooms and home offices, as well as public spaces such as restaurants and waiting areas. The moulded plywood seat shell showcases the natural material, be it elegant walnut, warm oak or natural or stained beech. The tubular steel frame is available with either a chrome-plated or powder-coated finish. Despite the minimalist shape and use of materials, the visible wood grain and soft curves lend the chair a ho... More

Metzgergrün Quarter

Over the next ten years, the Metzgergrün district is set to undergo a profound transformation and change into a contemporary housing estate without losing its original character. To replace the 27 row buildings from the 1950s, a modern district with about 500 new apartments and generous green areas is being built here. “This urban composition of residential courtyards, social center, high-quality and differentiated open spaces, new networks and the right connections has the potential to become a model and future-oriented quarter,” praised the jury. Dietrich Untertrifaller Manageable Neighborhoods The design arranges the apartments into six blocks, creating manageable neighborhoods. Each block combines three to four-s... More

Waldgartenstraße Residential

For this small estate in a quiet residential area loosely built up with single-family homes, we have arranged two elongated cubes slightly offset to each other. This ensures both the necessary privacy and unobstructed, wide views. To the north, an inviting, semi-public courtyard opens up the complex, while the play ground is located to the north-east, separated from the private areas. The architecture skilfully plays with the contrast of raw concrete and fine wood structure. The façade is extensively glazed, the balconies offer constructive weather protection and summer thermal insulation. The emphasis on the horizontal, the contrast between closed and open areas and the targeted use of daylight appear unobtrusively elegant. Albre... More

Modern Dacha

“From my grandfather I inherited a modest forester’s lodge in the heart of Pszczewski landscape park. I wanted to enhance it and create contemporary dacha for friends and family.” The idea of finishing the second house in the middle of the woods came from Investors’ love for nature and proactive way of spending spare time, as well as the need to create an asylum, standing in contrast to the quick, everyday life of big cities. Although the dacha steers away from traditional representation of a lodge, all design solutions and materials draw direct inspiration from the overpowering proximity of nature. After analysing the project’s needs, world’s directions and sightings of nature, the surface of - initi... More

Blok 59

Blok 59 is part of the revitalisation of the Strijp S railway zone in Eindhoven and forms an ensemble with the residential buildings Blok 61 and Blok 63. Blok 59 is a residential building with a commercial plinth for business premises. The building contains 156 apartments that are varied in nature. In addition to two and three room apartments there are studios and spacious apartments at the top of the building. Villa Roses

Situated on the steep slope of the Costa Brava, the house offers on a living area of 335 m² a brilliant view to the gulf of Roses. When looking through the large window fronts, a landscape panorama unfolds, which reaches from the Mediterranean to the peaks of the Pyrenees. Like in front of a cinema screen, the residents look through a wide band of glass. Sky, sun and sea seem close enough to touch. On two floors, the holiday home nestles crescent-shaped on the steep slope. Widely projecting concrete ceilings and walls frame the glass facades.
