Espresso Alchemy café by Metagram visually connects two disjointed but adjacent spaces by inserting vividly coloured architectural forms

Located in Hong Kong’s Harbour City Mall, the design of the Espresso Alchemy café by Metagram visually connects two disjointed but adjacent spaces by inserting vividly coloured architectural forms.  Metagram The first of the two spaces was previously narrow and oddly shaped, and visually open to the common mall area. Although providing good visibility, there was little privacy. Adjacent to his, the second space was illuminated with cool blue 4500K lighting and was highly exposed to an underpass traffic route.  Both spaces were considered less than ideal for a food and beverage establishment.  Metagram Metagram sought to resolve two main issues with the existing fabric by unifying the two space... Espresso Alchemy Nina Tower

The concept for the cafe was inspired by the rich red-brown colors of coffee crema. Using a white base to create an atmosphere of lightness and to reflect in maximum daylight, we used a selection of red toned materials, each with a unique quality to express different elements of the architecture. Metagram The working surface, a carefully selected terrazzo, features shards of red marbl... More

Spaces are oriented toward the panoramic district views and are drenched in natural daylight. A warm color palette of taupe hues and oak timber veneer ensure maximum light reflectivity while creating a surreal ambience. Metagram The program i... More

Espresso Alchemy Harbour City

The objective of the Espresso Alchemy café design in Hong Kong's Harbour City mall was to visually connect two disjointed but adjacent spaces. Metagram inserted vividly coloured architectural forms in order to create this iconic design. Metagram The site located in Tsim Sha Tsui, a key tourist district of Hong Kong, was one without clear boundaries and was surrounded by much visual clutter, making it difficult to control the design experience. Metagram Comprised of two sections, the primary tenancy was narrow, oddly shaped, and visually open to a vast, mostly inactive common mall area providing good visibility but little privacy. Metagram Adjacent to the tenancy, within the open mall space was the secondary area. Th... More
