ASB GlassFloor designed a special construction for this flooring project with a pixel pitch of 25 mm, which not only ensures a homogeneous surface, but matches the architecture of the building and gives it a futuristic touch at the same time. The entire flooring surface of 80 m² was equipped with LED video elements and covered with patented glass that reduces reflection to a minimum. As one of six Microsoft global R&D sites, it has a strong focus on the engineering development of new software products across multiple platforms. In 2007, Microsoft Italia chose to establish its headquarters in a rural landscape characterized by the seasonally shifting patterns of agricultural production. This would be setting for a new way of working. We focused on this condition of agricultural fringe, recognizing it as an opportunity to create a transition. Our interest in designing the project was to create a meeting point between two technologies: that associated with working the fields, and that relating to working with computers. They are two realms of technology that develop in parallel and in a compatible manner, with neither prevailing over the other.
