TUNNEL MODULAR WINTER CHALET

The TUNNEL MODULAR WINTER CHALET by BllendDesignOffice redefines alpine retreats through a bold volumetric contrast and advanced prefabrication. Conceived as a sustainable, steel-structured residence, the chalet pairs a monumental, 5.5-meter-high natural pine volume with an intersecting first-floor "tunnel" clad in sleek, black Trespa® panels. Extending outward, this dark geometric element creates dramatic cantilevers at both facades, projecting the interior into the landscape while providing sheltered outdoor spaces below. Merging modular efficiency with a biophilic design language, the project stands as a testament to contemporary, high-end modular living. Concept & Architecture The architectural composition plays with the... More

Green Modular Home

The Green Modular House represents a paradigm shift in contemporary architecture, moving away from static mass toward a living assembly of "basic cells." Driven by a progressive architectural mindset, the project views the building process as an evolution of form rather than a fixed outcome. Inspired by the simplicity of fundamental geometric shapes, the design transforms the complexities of construction into a large-scale modular system. This "Open System" approach treats architecture as a multifunctional ecosystem, capable of organic growth and adaptation to various environmental demands. NYC Parks Luis Lopez Modular Comfort Station

As part of a pilot project for the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, 1100 designed a restroom station for Luis Lopez Park in Staten Island using modular construction. The initiative marked the first time NYC Parks pursued a project of this kind, and our commission extended beyond the pilot to include creating a replicable delivery system for future modular facilities. With New York offering only 12 public restrooms per 100,000 residents—far fewer than other major American cities—new solutions are urgently needed to address the city’s limited and deteriorating stock. Ty Cole Ty Cole Our modular system provides a viable path forward to expand this supply quickly and affordably. The resulting stru... More

Flipside Circus

This project is the new headquarters for Australia’s largest youth circus organisation. The project reflects the more pragmatic and industrial aesthetic of contemporary Australian circus, which rejects the artifice and costuming of traditional circus. Christopher Frederick Jones Christopher Frederick Jones The building becomes an adaptable, adjustable circus apparatus which performers scale, climb, and swing from. It is a low-cost project that can be easily disassembled and relocated, throughout its life, like a modular circus tent. The scheme uses twenty-eight shipping containers stacked four storeys high like large bricks to form an external perimeter wall around the 12m high practice and performance spaces. Christoph... More

Polak building - Erasmus University Rotterdam

The changing educational landscape calls for a learning environment that is continually linked to society and the world around it. That was also our brief from Erasmus University Rotterdam. They approached us to design both the interior and exterior of the new university building. This was the perfect opportunity for us to design a fully-integrated and sustainable building, in which the pleasant study environment indoors is linked to campus life outside. A learning environment where students and staff can inspire each other. Students and visitors are free to walk from the adjacent plaza straight into the building. This takes them directly into an open inner area: the atrium. In this lively part of the building, there are opportunities to... More
