A mud house designed and constructed by Metamorphosis Architecture, circa 1999.
10 M HOUSE - NOT BUILT OF MUD
Built for an Engineer friend in 1999CE in Panchkula, this 1350 sft house in Panchkula cost less than Rs 5 lakhs.........!!!
It has a full blown set of rooms – 3 Bedrooms with attached toilets, a separate Living room across the full frontage,
and a kitchen, and lobby and and a Dining room in the middle – all more than adequately lit and ventilated through an internal courtyard. The courtyard is profusely verdant, with oxygen generating plants & herbs.

Into The Wild
With a verdant panoramic view of the mountains and deep woods of coconut and palm trees, the site lays plain with no special characters of terrain or landscape. Being the developer's site, the surrounding environs of about 12 acres including our site are plain. This led to create an interesting building which should respect nature. We started our design focusing on 25% on construction and 75% on nature. Speaking of sustainability, growing and planting trees is not only sustainable, how our building responds to the nature is more important. So, we focused on the construction technique which will reduce the carbon emission. This self-sustaining structure folds and flows in a fluidic form and we call this technique as fold architecture.

The Infinite Rise
The site is located in the midst of the mountain ranges. It has a 180 degree view of the beautiful mountains with a deep valley in front. The site has natural rock bed and we as architects, do not want to disturb the natural landform present. Also, The site already had a 6m deep land cut when we visited for the first time. We used that landform to bring out the structure with view towards the valley. Also the site has more rocks with a slope difference on an average of 2 to 4 m deep throughout the site.
