Beyond the line: mobility draws a new urban geography for Nantes
In Nantes, a pioneering city for tramways in France, the new lines on the Île extend a legacy in which mobility and urban transformation go hand in hand. Lines 6, 7 and 8 are redefining metropolitan connections between Rezé, the heart of Nantes and the northern and western territories, while supporting the profund transformations of the districts they pass through. Y BUILDING
UNFIED AND DIVERSIFIED.The project takes place in a heterogeneous urban context, marked by the history of Nantes' island. It takes its inspiration from the shipyards, genuine places of local savoir-faire when it comes to metal work construction. The project proposes on the one hand a fragmented volume, echoing the faubourien (suburban) context of this neighborhood, and on the other hand facades dressed with a perforated metal skin underlined by concrete horizontal lines, unifying the building.
